Every program which issues a beep has a different volume depending on the machine it runs on, e.g. on my systems: MChess P6-233 (Waibel) rather loud Rebel 10 P6-233 (Waibel) audible MChess PIII-550 (Gateway) audible Rebel 10 PIII-550 (Gateway) barely audible The K6-233 behaves just like the P6-233, but this does not necessarily mean it's a matter of CPU speed. --- Shep
