Are you going on any match results, or are you just repeating what many others have said before you? These matches would have to be pretty long, for as I'm always at pains to point out, statistical variations are more important than people (apparently) think. It would take many hundreds of games to know to a reasonable degree of certainty which program is better (unless there is a big difference between them), and even then you can never be sure. Even after a long drawn out series of matches from which one champion emerges, if you repeat the same matches all over again chances are that a different one will win it (unless the winner is far far better than the its rivals). This argument can cut either way, I know; I'm just emphasising the difficulties of finding out which one's best. The best way to judge a program might just be to observe how it plays, and therefore one would have to be a pretty good player to analyse its style in detail, sort of ruling out most of us. Are you talking about scores in test suites? On what are you basing your assertions? Really I'd like to know how people formed their conclusions that "Shredder is weak". Cheers, Mike.
