AFAIK, tt is possible provided the auto232 interface in use is the one for
windows.

On the other hand, the auto232 for DOS has to use some dirty trick to re-direct
the interrupts from the parallel port to the serial port. This way some DOS
chess programs which didn't know of auto232 could be managed to send their
output - originally supposed for the printer - to the serial port. Here your
idea won't work.
