However, I think Crafty will always check for that (I presume) in that if it has found a mate in x then that will be flagged as so in the hashtable, so it'll search no deeper than that. If not then it shouldn't be a problem, because by the laws of probability, there'll be a short mate sooner or later. Provided you don't run out of time. Cheers, Col
