I now have a cluster of 8 quad xeon 550 machines, with a _very_ fast interconnection (giganet). The 550's are about 1.5X my 400 in speed, and 8 of those is at least 10x my quad 400. Of course, there are far faster machines and I might fiddle with some. Dell is selling an 8-way xeon machine, and then there is "digital".
