Subject: Moderation: New CCC Sign-up Rules...

Author: Steven Schwartz

Date: 11:26:22 02/17/00

Starting today, we are instituting new CCC sign-up
rules.

All NEW sign-ups are required to use their real
names. They are also required to submit their
city and state (or city and country).

These real names will appear when a member posts.
Aliases will not be permitted.

If a new sign up needs to remain anonymous for
whatever reason, he may either choose not to post
at all or may apply for an exemption - the information
supplied to receive an exemption shall remain confidential.

Current members are exempt from these rules and
will only need to supply real names and the
required address info (see above) if they leave
CCC (via suspension or otherwise) and need to re-sign up.

Suspended members may be asked to supply still further
evidence of their real name, address, phone number, etc.,
in order to re-enter the CCC.

Perhaps you have all noticed that the message board
has been relatively free of abuse, in one form or another,
for the last several days. The credit goes to the diligent
work of our moderators: Dave, Andrew. and Tom.

In fact, yesterday CCC had its busiest day ever, generating
over 6300 hits in a 24 hour period, and this was in spite
of the fact that the sign-up board was down in order to
make the changes. That's pretty impressive.
