Another thing, have you tried to edit the registry and deleted all hives which contains the Chessbase hive? I would suggest using an uninstaller program like cleansweep, and do a registry sweep to clean up the registry. From my experience in the field, I'm a system administrator, I had trouble with some software which was installed incorrectly and afterwards no matter how many times I installed/uninstalled the program, it kept refusing to load and giving error messages, Backup Exec 7 from Veritas was one of such beast. The only way I was able to re-install this program was to run cleansweep and clean the registry. Try clean the registry. Laurence
