Subject: The Israeli league(Rebel andJunior won,Fritz and shredder drew)

Author: blass uri

Date: 07:13:18 03/03/00

Rebel century1.2a won tal haimovich in the israeli league.

I asked people before the game if I can use a new version and almog told me that
I have the right to use Century1.2a because the software is still Rebel
Centruy.

I was not sure if he was right so I aksed also GM Ram sofer and after he told me
to do what I want to do I used Century1.2a

Century1.2a is a special version that Ed sent me.
There was some problems in installation because I could not use WinZip because a
file was missing and Amir Ban was one of the people who helped me.

I told my opponent that I use a new version before the game because I did not
want him to complain after the game that he thought that he played against
another player like kasparov did after he lost against Genius3 when he
complained that he thought that he played Genius2.

My opponent replied that I do not need to do it because Rebel is too strong to
him and Rebel6 is enough to win him.

My opponent did not use his time in a logical way and was in a very big time
trouble that also helped him to lose(He used for example more than 40 minutes
for 15.Be1).

I asked my opponent after the game if he tried to prepare himself against Rebel
by playing games against it at home and he told me that he did not do it and
that he does not think that it could help much.

I also asked him why did his team put the weakest player against Rebel and he
replied that this is the idea that the other players can get points.

It worked because Rebel was the only winner for Rebel's team and the Rebel's
team(macabi afek) lost (Rebel was the only winner for Macabi afek and only 2
players drew.

In the other games Junior won against a weak player.
Fritz drew against the same player who drew against shredder and Gm golod drew
against shredder and probably missed a win.

golod had clearly a better position in the endgame but my impression based on
games of him against computers is that this GM does not know to play endgames.

In the past Golod also missed a win and drew against Junior4.9 in an endgame and
he also did not play the endgame well against century in the previous round.

Here is the game(I apologize if I do not write haimovich right in english)
