Hello there Thorsten,

First a reminder: Americans have a saying about not teaching your grandmother
how to suck eggs. Translated into this discussion, I don't think that you can
exactly teach Ed Schroeder about tactics in a program. Ed is a top programmer
who knows a thing or two about tactics, believe me.

Second, I have to grant you that it is GAMES that prove the worth of a program,
not tactics suites. Remember Lang's progs, they weren't the best in tactics but
still ruled the world for quite some time. Well, as you are right there, do you
believe that Fritz 5.32 could have placed so high as Fritz 6 did in Enrique's
tournament (Cadaques)? My own testing with versions after Fritz 6 generic (i.e.
6.55, 6.66, 6.67 etc.) tends to indicate that Fritz 6.X is about 40-50 pts
stronger than 5.32 in GAMES.

BTW, I had a Novag Super Forte C machine and loved it! Those were the days. I
actually had it before it was for sale in Europe or elsewhere as Novag sent it
to me as an EPROM to replace my old Super Forte program which I dispatched to
Hongkong... I had expected the B version but got the yet untested C... Hm.
Sweet past.
