But this bring the issue of what is "to change a book". Aparently you mean it is the same if nothing is added, but in my view a book is not only an specific number of lines, but also an specific likelihood to play this or that. If you close some lines and stress another, I see that like a new, different book, althought not too much different perhaps from the first. Matter of degree.
