I run programs in two environments: WinNT 4.0(Intel) and Win95(K6). Most Winboard engines I have tried work fine on both, except for my own. I have been using an old copy of MSVC 1.52 to compile my program. On my Win95 machine, my Winboard engine works fine, both stand-alone and with Winboard. On my NT machine, however, it only runs in a DOS window. If I try to use it via Winboard, Winboard gives a message like "Unable to open program RBOARD.EXE: Access Denied" and then shuts down, which sounds like what is happening to you. My best guess is that the problem is the compiler used to create the executable. I don't know much about this, though, but it seems like perhaps the code that MSVC 1.52 is creating does not allow my program to be remotely opened by Winboard. I am switching to Borland C++ 5.5 and hopefully that will eliminate the problem, but I still have to test that. Rob
