The only safe thing I can say it _is_ possible for some chessprograms to seek it
through to mate :-) ; but if it is the shortest one , only some program like
quest can tell it seems ...

Crafty got the following :

 22    75:32     ++   1. Bg2!!
               22   174:54  Mat25   1. Bg2 Ke3 2. h4 Kxf4 3. Bf3 Ke5 4.
                                    h5 Ke6 5. Bd5+ Ke7 6. h6 Kf8 7. Kd2
                                    f4 8. Kxd3 f5 9. Be6 f3 10. Ke3 Ke7
                                    11. Kxf3 <HT>
               22-> 285:42  Mat25   1. Bg2 Ke3 2. h4 Kxf4 3. Bf3 Ke5 4.
                                    h5 Ke6 5. Bd5+ Ke7 6. h6 Kf8 7. Kd2
                                    f4 8. Kxd3 f5 9. Be6 f3 10. Ke3 Ke7
                                    11. Kxf3 <HT>
Shredder didn't find mate in 17:30 hours ; enough now :-)

I am still interested though that if Bringer said mate in 18 is it sure it also
can reach it ? In fact easy to check if I stepped from move to move slowly ; but
too time-consuming after all ...
