Your firewall may not allow connections on ports that high. Since you can connect to the standard telnet port on ICC (don't know about FICS), try just entering 'chessclub.com' or '204.178.125.65' (without the quotations) and see if this works. If it does ask for a port number (unlikely) just enter 23, which is the standard telnet port.
