I have no doubt it is possible for CSTal to beat CM in a game. In the first of my two it played an excellent game, just missing a win. Personally I like the program a lot it is fun to play. If I had to list my favs in order it would be something like: Fritz6. CM6K. Shredder4. CSTal. Though of late I am playing a lot with winboard engines and finding some of them are a lot of fun. Thanks.
