Subject: Favorite tools/methods for searching the message archives

Hi - someone suggested I search the archives here for some info, so I downloaded
and unzipped some archives into a directory.  Several thousand individual .txt
files...

So, do people here just use their favorite grep on the unzipped .txt files, or
are there other ways, like maybe some sort of grep/viewer that works on the zip
files themselves?  Or...??
