For the fun of it, I downloaded the program 'Chesspartner' for a
free trial period. I could play on the chess servers with it. While I
was playing my first game I suddenly noticed in a window the ongoing
analysis of the game! I quickly closed that window.
However, my point is that others are no doubt using that window,
and getting some fancy rating from it! There's no need to 'alt-tab'
or flip the board, or anything like that. And it's a strong engine,
so a cheat can go ahead and name his rating.
While I'm here, it's worth noting that most cheaters are'nt cheating
for the heck of it, rather they are using the program as a 'tactic check'
like we've seen some GM's doing,(legally). They don't cheat every move,
that way they still lose games, make tactical blunders on occasion, and
generally have little chance of ever getting caught. What they don't
seem to realize is that this practise won't make them a strong player.
There's still a lot to be said for the old book and manual chess set for
   improving your strength.
