Ten years ago or more, I read(in CCR among other sources) that a doubling in processor speed brought a strength gain of approx. 80 FIDE rating points, but that the gain brought by doubling speed began to decrease as speed/strength increased. Has this conjecture withstood scrutiny? What are the specifics of the speed vs strength relationship using the commercial hardware and software available today? Willis
