The fact that you are not GM does not say that you cannot play against them.
You can see how many take backs you need in order to draw or win.

You can also use top programs for correspondence games or for analysis of
positions.

Even if you are interested only in the tactical ability test positions and
tactical ability may be different things because there is usually a sacrifice in
test positions when there is often no sacrifice in tactical ideas and the
program only need to see deep enough to find them.

I think that it is better to do a tactical suite when the target is to avoid a
tactical mistake(based on games of programs) and not to find a move.

I belive that in most of the cases the best solvers are also best in tactics but
that there are some exceptions.
