Most programs consider every legal move including stupid moves.

Most programs are not selective searchers.

They do not consider every possible position in the future because if they
discover that 1.a4 is bad because of e5 they do not need to analyze lines like
1.a4 a5 but they consider 1.a4 assuming they do not use book
