Maybe there are two other reasons for the high percentage of great player draws: 1) Maybe players at that level have a more difficult time "falling into" bad positions and hence, do not have the ability to see the REALLY obscure mistakes that their opponents make (whereas low rated players may easily fall into a mistake and/or may also more readily see where their lower rated opponent blunders). 2) Maybe players at that level accept draws more readily due to the difficulty of beating such strong opponents. Lower rated opponents often fight to the bitter end, even in a drawn or lost positions. Is it possible that perfect chess is not a drawn game, but that we convince ourselves of that probability due to the behavior patterns of human play? KarinsDad :)
