Oh well, trying to fall asleep but not succeeding, I found a first brainslip :) The type 1 castling exceptions can be extended to all positions where the opponent of the side to move can castle. This reduces the type 1 count to 3891362 and the total count to 3891356. Will doublecheck tomorrow if I find the time. Have to get some sleep now :) Or shall I quickly try to find all legal 4-piece positions :?) It's interesting stuff ... bye, Paul
