Every program I have ever tried was faster when compiled with MS VC++ than GCC 2.95.2 except for one date calculation which GCC produces slightly faster results. For floating point, GCC is miles behind. It's not even funny. Sorry for siding with "the evil empire" but that's just the way it is.
