I don't really understand this view. The technology to play live chess on the internet is already available and has been for years. Yet CK have tried to develop their own stuff, apparently disregarding the years of experience that have gone in to FICS and ICC and chess.net Now we have had two highly-publicised events at CK, both of which have ended in disaster. Obviously ISP problems have played their part, but surely these aren't insurmountable? eg On Mar 5 ICC hosted the OZ.COM tournament in which 310 FIDE rated players from all over the world participated. And let's not forget the successful First Computer Chess Tournament at ICC earlier this year (22 participants from all over the globe, including Junior). I hate to say it but CK's approach to these things seems a bit amateurish; surely it would have been better to play a lot of private matches first before trying to go public with a service that wasn't ready?
