My belief is in software end of chess computers, we have ended the huge quantum leaps that came earlier in the 20th century. Yes, there will be improvements, but like I said not exponential in nature. On the hardware part of the picture maybe the speed of the computer will have a limit within a decade. However, "(Speed of) Light Computers" are being experimented. If you wish to talk about horizontal integration (as in what are the possibilites), then use my email. The vision of the future is more dynamic than the chess board can do. The Soviet Union's official sport was chess. (The Soviet Union is now dismantled.) Richard Lang's software, Chess Genius, uses much less than 100,000 bytes. This main program has a rating of about 2400 FIDE. Give Richard Lang credit for making the chess world turned upside down.
