Subject: Fritz won shredder,Century won Boris kogen(2286) in the israeli league

Author: blass uri

Date: 06:59:21 03/31/00

1)Fritz lost a piece against shredder but won the game because there were many
passed pawns on the board and it was not simpl to win with a piece advantage.

The operator of Fritz did an operator error when he offered a draw to shredder
when the score of Fritz was 0.00

The operator of shredder did also an operator mistake when he declined the draw
offer.

The operator of shredder complained after he heard the draw offer that Fritz did
not resign when it was a piece down and now offer a draw when it is a pawn down.

Ram sofer told the operator of shredder to look at the evaluation of the
computer and the operator of shredder said that the evaluation of shredder is
+0.02 for itself so he did not accept the draw.

The operators did not understand that in a queen endgame the important thing is
not the material advanatge.
The important thing in queen endgames with passed pawns is to see which passed
pawn is closer to be a queen.

2)Rebel Century(knowledge=25) did not play the opening well but fortunately the
oponnent did a mistake by 32...Ra8 instead of b5.

Rebel played the rook endgame better and the opponent resigned in a KRPP vs KR

Here is the game of Rebel against Boris kogen(kogen resigned at move 69)
