John, Don't worry, I have Junior 6a on a 333 Mhz P II with only 64Mbytes of RAM and it crushes me when I play it. Forget about playing someone with a faster machine. Your next step is to buy Junior 6a or trade your friend Fritz 6a. I think that Fritz 6a is better at fast time controls than Junior 6a. Todays "PC" computers are only baby toys compared to what is coming. When your friend has a quad machine cooking at 1.5 GHz you can trump him by waiting a year and getting a quad 3.0 GHz. machine. Then he will get a faster machine later that year. Play your friend at 5 minutes for the whole game and drive him nuts. Make sure he is not a violent person. If he is not violent then make sure you taunt him and his lousy computer every time he loses. On the other hand--maybe not. Both of you should turn "permanent brain" off. Tim Frohlick
