Hi all, I am really sorry that there seems to be a problem with delivery of my book outside of Germany ... :-( The book is definitely published and readily available in Germany (from the German Amazon branch and normal book stores). But the international distributor, Morgan Kaufmann Publishers, has apparently received no copies of it yet. Whether this is due to customs or shipping problems, I do not know. Yet, I forwarded your complaints to Vieweg Verlag and urge you all to do so yourself too. Below I quote the according text from my WWW page about the book at http://supertech.lcs.mit.edu/~heinz/node1.html. > Although Vieweg Verlag operates mainly in Germany, the entire book > is written in English. Morgan Kaufmann Publishers distribute > it worldwide in the US and all other countries except for Austria, > Germany, and Switzerland. As of March 2000, the book was available > for online purchase from Amazon.com, Amazon.de, Morgan Kaufmann Online, > and Vieweg's Internet Bookshop at the following URLs. > > http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/3528057327/ > http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/3528057327/ > http://www.mkp.com/books_catalog/3-52805-732-7.asp > http://www.vieweg.de/bookshop/ > > If you encounter any ordering problems, please take a look at Morgan > Kaufmann's list of international resellers and contact them or > Vieweg's distribution officer Ruediger Pech directly by email. I forwarded your complaints to Vieweg Verlag and urge you all to do so yourself too by sending Ruediger Pech an email message at <ruediger.pech@bertelsmann.de>. Here is what I know else: 1. The first production run of the book was completed in December 1999 and Vieweg already sold some copies back then. However, the publication date inside the cover page reads "2000". 2. Although the ISBN of the book has been known and valid since December 1999, it always takes a while until new ISBNs propagate through the various levels of databases before they reach good visibility for end customers and traditional book shops. 3. The initial shipment of copies to the US was supposed to arrive at Morgan Kaufmann in late January or early February. I do not know what caused the delay. 4. Currently, Morgan Kaufmann expects to receive a shipment of book copies *this* week. Let us all hope that there are no further delays now and in the future. Last but not least, thank you very much for your interest in the book! Hopefully, you find it worthwhile waiting for. Cheers, =Ernst=
