It is treu that most computer program's hang for a long time on one move and later drop it many times this was the best move it is always intresting to look at the moves where the program looked for that time. I have to say in the past this was almost always the fact but not anymore. One question wich should be made is wich programmer knows what development means cause this is something wich most programs still don't know and the calculation that a tempo has a valeu of a pawn is simply a fact so today if you ply the queensgambit with against a computerprogram with no book then it will try to play for keeping the c4 pawn wich is a mistake only Nimzo will play d4 c4 with no book all other programs only see the los of the pawn and choose the Rusian defense as mainline and with no book the Italian game is verry weak for White for most program's I agree that most program's made a huge improvement for the last years do I have doubts that for instance Fritz6 with no tablebases realy is stronger then Fritz5.32 But it is the fact that making a program a better positional player most of the time will loose points on the tactical point So know it could be good to start to make a huge Positional player and a super tactical program and then try to make combination of both Actualy in my point of vieuw Rebel 10 with anti gm are the Strongest settings so far if this program can hold the same vieuw after an increasement of the nodes/sec then I am sure this is still the strongest program around I also think Chessmaster always is a good indicator to see if the program realy is strong or not Then new settings I made for Schreder4 are about the same as the Rebel10 anti gm settings with some improvements and the Fritz turbo table bases
