If you can move the file around, are you able to move it into the recycle bin? :-) Or did you mean DOS move? I would take a hex editor to the FAT table and see what codes the file is stored with. In particular, ascii code zero wouldn't show up on-screen at all, and ascii code 255 might show up as a space. Obviously, other codes might be used as well. Dave
