Once again we have a new leader of the SSDF rating
list! This time it is Fritz 6.0 K6-2 450 MHz which
has 2721 after 368 games! The rating increase compared
to the predecessor Fritz 5.32 is as much as 67 points,
and Fritz 6 has 32 points more than Junior 6.0.

The exe-file of the Fritz 6-version which we have tested
is dated 2000-01-23. In most games the four CDs with
the Nalimov table bases has been used. Due to limi-
ted hard disk space Fritz 6 has been played with
one or three CDs in some games.

Frans Morsch has had his program on the first place
on 8 out of the 12 latest lists, but not on the two
most recent. Now he's back again! But I'm sure that
the competitors will work hard on dethroning him!

For several years we have wished to include Crafty
on the rating list. But mainly due to problems with
auto232 it hasn't been possible, until now. We
decided to play with the ChessBase-version of
Crafty 17.07 using the opening book general.ctg from
Fritz 5.32 and between one and four of the
table base CDs.

After 251 tournament games Crafty 17.07/CB K6-2 450
has a rating of 2624! Not bad for a program which
is provided without any costs. Robert Hyatt is
certainly making a honourable effort for the computer
chess community.

Junior 6.0 has lost 17 points compared to the
latest list and Chess Tiger 12.0 now has eleven
points less. Both of these programs are now tested
with newer engine-versions and the results are mixed
with the earlier played games.

In a few weeks we will have seven pairs of K6-2 450 MHz
playing against each other. This means that the programs
will mainly meet the strongest program-versions of the
competitors on equal hardware, instead of playing against
weaker programs on slower PCs. Added to that we will
have three meetings between K6-2 and P200 MMX.

Next official list will (probably) be made in May.
