Chess Tiger 12.1 has found the solution in 481.91s (a little bit more than 8
minutes) on my K6-2 400MHz with 8Mb hash tables:

Bd2+ Ke5 Ba5 Rc8 f8=N ... mate in 8

Apparently the solution involves an underpromotion.
