I'm using a cable modem here in Dana Point, California (Orange County). I tried this TRACERT command and this what I got, which you can use for comparison purposes: C:\WINDOWS>TRACERT site2936.dellhost.com Tracing route to site2936.dellhost.com [209.235.107.4] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 18 ms 38 ms 18 ms cr1-hfc2.dnpt1.occa.home.net [24.1.146.1] 2 32 ms 24 ms 12 ms r1-fe0-0-100.dnpt1.occa.home.net [24.1.144.1] 3 57 ms 16 ms 18 ms 10.0.242.25 4 52 ms 15 ms 31 ms 10.0.240.81 5 23 ms 11 ms 12 ms c1-pos5-3.anhmca1.home.net [24.7.72.125] 6 117 ms 23 ms 18 ms 24.7.65.165 7 34 ms 17 ms 23 ms 148.ATM1-0.BR2.sjc1.ALTER.NET [137.39.91.25] 8 52 ms 37 ms 30 ms 154.ATM2-0.XR1.SJC1.ALTER.NET [152.63.51.182] 9 47 ms 22 ms 61 ms 193.at-2-0-0.TR1.SAC1.ALTER.NET [152.63.51.34] 10 312 ms 224 ms 156 ms 127.at-6-1-0.TR1.ATL5.ALTER.NET [152.63.0.177] 11 162 ms 147 ms 184 ms 197.ATM7-0.XR1.ATL1.ALTER.NET [152.63.81.25] 12 186 ms 184 ms 184 ms 195.ATM7-0.GW5.ATL1.ALTER.NET [146.188.233.5] 13 181 ms 167 ms 169 ms sage-0C3-shadow.customer.alter.net [157.130.40.238] 14 197 ms 161 ms 170 ms atlmsfc-1.eng.interliant.com [209.196.32.141] 15 163 ms 158 ms 146 ms site2936.dellhost.com [209.235.107.4] Trace complete. I hope you guys find this helpful. BTW, I had an analogous problem with my cable modem using ICC, which is even _more_ annoying. Sometimes PING times of over a minute. I seriously considered discontinuing my membership there, but then ICC made some upgrades and my problem disappeared. A recent PING time result I got at ICC was 88ms ;-). Sometimes you're just unlucky with certain sites. It's not your cable modem. It's the the rest of the world that can't keep up with you. Either it's the site or the route there that nails you. Be patient and the problem will go away, hopefully.
