Your answer more or less even strengthens my arguments , did you notice :-)) ? Where in my post was anything much said about buying Fritz ;-) ? In serious : the problem is : very few people ever heard about these programs at all ; this is the simple truth . Let me add a little true story : About 2 years ago I started a computer account at ICC running a "modified genius " account ; my internet access was rather fresh and everything was really new for me . I just remember a game I played : it was a 5/0 which "my" computer program lost : my opponent said : "Hey, unbelievable : I used something named Junior ; Junior HAS JUST BEATEN THE MIGHTY GENIUS !!! " ( he really was excited I can safely promise :-) ) I never had heard about a "Junior" before ; I never heard about something "crafty" before :-) . Why should someone buy one of those 7 rather unknown progs if he doesn't already own one ? Why not instead "Shredder , the talking chess program world master " , the "Junior that even GM Adam flees " , the "most subtle HIARCS" if it even costs less ? Or maybe even "Crafty , the secret Internet chess world master , which his author offers for free because he is some nuts scientist " ?? If it is about Fritz : it doesn't come with _old_ engines it seems : for example it comes with Doctor 3.0 , a very neat program . > >Second consider that other people having Fritz 6, will not necessarely like to >have to spend time setting up the files to interface with the winboard: after >all using a self installing program is usually simpler. Considered : but why should someone care about those engines : because they know them it seems ; and how come ? How possible without being involved in net world ? For example if someone follows chess program message boards : is it really probable he won't be able to set up a winboard program ?? instead willing to buy some "lesser" engines for 129 .-DM ; please don't misunderstand me here : I really love them , but I am not thinking I am an "average" user : I had no problems to set up "TCB" under winboard . And if I am able to do it ; why should I _buy_ them native ?? YES : I think it is completely a freak offer ; one for the indeed nerds ; the more I think about it the surer I am :-) . regards. pete > >regards >Franz > >p.s. I'm only sorry that this CD does not include TCB :-(
