This is an EXCELLENT post, IMHO. You've got Fritz 6, Hiarcs 6, Rebel 9, CM 6K - mostly programs from the last 3 years (+ a lot of oldies). The SSDF rating is often higher than the FIDE TPR - but, in most cases, not by as much as you'd expect if "ratings inflation" had occured. In fact, considering the margin for error one would expect in TPRs, the evidence for rating inflation is almost non-existant! A big thanks to Chris. We must now, IMO, seriously consider the possibility that an "off the shelf" computer could, right now, give the world champion (or other assorted super-grandmasters) a serious run for their money in a match. -g On April 12, 2000 at 12:12:01, Chris Carson wrote: > FIDE >S/W Mp MHZ TPR SSDF >Hiarcs 6 PII 350 2611 2624 450 MHZ for SSDF >Hiarcs 6 Pmmx 200 2538 2518 >Rebel 9 Pmmx 200 2535 2521 >Mephisto Lyon 68020 12 2217 2150 >Mephisto Portorose 68020 12 2181 2127 >Fidelity Mach IV 68020 12 2177 2074 >Mephisto MM 4 6502 10 2122 1904 >Fidelity Mach III 68000 16 2067 1993 >Mephisto Academy 6502 5 2057 1939 >CXG S.
