the programmer or the company that owned the copyright sells the licence
agreement.
if the programmer or the company owning that right, does not want the customer
to do something with the product, the licence agreement
is not accepted by the company.
the customer can send the product to the distributor and gets the money back.
if you buy a book, you accept the copyright laws of the country you buy the
book. you are e.g. not allowed to print those books again in and sell them
for your own. therefore you would need again the allowance of the publishers
or the writer.
same with programs.
washing machines are of course different matter. or cars.

the ssdf are not independent.
