Palm III:
- ChessGenius Yes (<1 second)
- PocketChess, No.
Macintosh
- MacChess 5.01 Yes (<1 second) Freeware
- Sigma Chess 4.02 Lite Yes (<1 second) Freeware
- Screamer Chess Yes (<1 second) Freeware

On my Palm III, ChessGenius 1.1 plays f8N+ and announces checkmate
in less than one second (the resolution of the clock) - whether at 3min/move
or at the "instant" setting.

PocketChess 1.1, on the other hand, plays Be4+ at the highest setting.
I don't think PocketChess even knows how to underpromote - when you
push a pawn to the 8th rank as a human, it doesn't give you that option.

MacChess and Sigma Chess move in <1 second to underpromote and mate.

Screamer, while it sees the mate in less than 0.1 second, uses its
full 3 minutes to think, then plays f8=N#, the move it looked at
all along.
