Sure...  initially programmers were not interested, so someone cobbled together
a hack TSR that would make them 'talk' even though they didn't realize they
were 'talking'.

Now programmers are actively supporting this protocol, so the driver is really
unneeded in its present form.  The timing nonsense, etc, are all solvable.  I
believe the windows version of the protocol doesn't have the problem since
they don't use the TSR approach.

Better would be universal adoption of the winboard/xboard protocol standard,
then _everybody_ could talk and folks could play as many matches as they
want, with any program they want.

And since winboard is free, and is a working 'referee' between two engines,
everyone could buy their favorite engine and fire up a match.
