Hello Ralph, I'm very pleased to meet you. I don't know much about Internet
chess so I wouldn't know what sites to recommend. FICS is I believe the best
known free site. Jeroen van Dorp here has an extensive list on his pages
http://zip.to/jeroen. But I see that he already beat me to it in answering here!

Don't know much about monopoly on the Net either, I'm afraid . I looked at
http://www.msoworld.com/ , all sorts of mind-games and they have a search
function at http://www.msoworld.com/links/pages/ where I typed in "monopoly" I
got a link to a nice site in Finnish about several games but it was a bit hard
to read. Also a link to the official monopoly manufacturers site at
http://www.monopoly.com/ Not much about Internet playing but it did have a
monopoly screensaver and some nice stories. At Yahoo I found that if you
purchase the monopoly computergame CD-Rom that does have a capability for
Internet play but nothing seemed organized on a large scale. It seems you would
further need a program called Westwood Chat and a patch for it. On these sites
there was some more information:
http://www.geocities.com/~chance98/Aeriell/monopoly.htm
http://www.westwood.com/techsupport/faqs.html

Here was a site were the CD-Rom was on sale:
http://www.hasbrointeractive.com/hi/product.cfm?brand=12&product=44036

At Yahoo (http://www.yahoo.com/) they also have places were people interested in
particular games can get into contact with one another, they call them clubs but
they are more chatroomlike; at
http://clubs.yahoo.com/Games/Computer___Video_Games/
it is possible to type in "monopoly" in the search function. For instance at
http://profiles.yahoo.com/stratcar there is one person who organizes one of
these "clubs" this one for playing monopoly on the Internet. This all seemed
rather U.S. based. Well, I just wanted to see if I could find something.

I wish you much success with your correspondence chess which I heard you play at
a very high level, for the Australian Olympic team too!

Sorry about the Pretty Park virus!

Eelco
