I did some testing recently with the AMD K6/233 vs. the Pentium II 266. The results are most interesting because there is no consistency. The results depended on both the program tested and the exact position looked at. The Zarkov module with Bookup is always faster on the K6, sometimes as much as 15%. The Hiarcs engine in Chessbase was usually faster on the PII, Fritz 4 was usually faster on the PII, and Rebel Decade was consistently faster on the K6. In all of these programs, however, the exact results varied depending on the position. So, like most benchmarks, the only thing I can say is "your mileage may vary".
