This might not be what you're looking for, but Shockwave.com has an online email
chess program which I've found handy (and fun) to play with my grandson.  It
displays a reasonable online chessboard, and after you've made your move it
automatically emails a notification along with the appropriate link to your
opponent.  In my experience it works well.  Here's the link:
