Maybe in this _one event_ Chessbase kicked in a huge sum of money to increase the prize fund. How many of _US_ are going to do that to get _our_ program into such an event? IE Cray Blitz played in many human events. It didn't bring one extra cent. I payed the normal USCF membership fee for the program, I payed (personally, I might add) the normal tournament entry fee for the program. That was _it_. I don't know of any exceptions during the 70/80 time period... Computer chess wasn't supported by big companies. And my point remains... I bet they don't get in next year. Nor will anybody else... Or else it will be an event with only computers, which isn't going to go over very big...
