not sure how he does it.  In Crafty, I take the primary time control
value and stuff it into "time remaining" which I decrement as the game
wears on, and which I increment by the secondary time control amount
when the right number of moves has been reached.  So if I start off with
30/55, it would work, but if I update the clock later, and have to type
in the "real" clock it would not be good if I didn't already have a
built-
in fudge factor in Crafty.  Bruce apparently doesn't have a built-in
fudge...
