There are probably less than a dozen people who have done a lot of things.
Perhaps because it's stupid or pointless to do these things.

I think there are a great number of people who are capable of writing a strong
chess program, but that almost all of them feel that they have better things to
do.

It takes a lot of time and you aren't going to become dot-com millionaire by
doing it.
