Hmmm... this is without any preliminary move scoring, which runs at approximately 2M/sec, but it _is_ a slow scoring routine and would be a bit faster if I put some of it in the move generation routine instead. I guess that would take it down to about the same speed as yours and everyone else's. I don't do any hash updating either in the move gen as I do this in a kind of strange way later on. It _does_ include updating material counters however. I could include a little score calculation in the move gen which would make it quicker overall I suppose.... Cheers, Col
