Jerry,

Play all the programs. Remember the old saying that "variety is the spice of
life". I personally like MChessPro 8 even though it gets slaughtered in
comp-comp games. Your contention that Crafty is inferior may be true but then
as long as you keep buying or otherwise acquiring legally the big gun programs
you will make the commercial programmers and their publishers happy. Hyatt is
doing Crafty as an intellectual exercise but he likes praise just like all of us
do.

By saying that Fritz, Junior and Chess Tiger are superior you are merely saying
to us that the purchase price is justified by the playing strength. The paltry
prices of these programs is amazing. The amount of time and effort to write
these programs can be had for next to nothing.

Keep on enjoying computer chess including Crafty,

Tim "The Peacemaker" Frohlick
