Dan, Do not dispair,

As a chess programming hobbiest, I can do good given enough late hours and
quite kids, but as a chess player, I'm still hoping to break 1100 some day.

For example, the Novag Jasper gives me a good game.

Seriously,

I have though of hanging up the keyboard and spending a little more time at the
chessboard to improve _my_ skill so I can then improve my program.
