So the cost is only about a PC's cost. Linux is free, and you can download it from the net. NNTP server too. The major cost seems the cost to connect to the net. Since you already have the connection, this should not be a problem too. I never try to setup a nntp server myslef, so my understanding maybe wrong. I am sure that the real expert can give us the details on how to do it and do it right. The main advantage for using a nntp server is that we can use our farvite news reader, like tin in unix/linux, Agent on NT/95 etc, and this is a real time saver. Again, this is just a suggestion. I appreaciate the work done here, and really like it. By early next year, my city will have a cable modem service available, and I can probably setup a mirror nntp server at my home! Ren.
