I'm assuming that you didn't actually _calculate_ that mate in 18? :) Since Bob has all 5 piece table bases I assume that Crafty answered instantly. Without any table base Chest solves the mate in 18 in 13 minutes (on a K7/600 with 350 MB hash), so it is not completely out of reach. The TT shines, here: Chest's conservative estimate of speed up due to TT is here a factor 44. Heiner
