There are only a few rounds left, and it's an exciting battle for first place. Before this round Beersheva was in first place leading 1.5 points over Rishon-Lezion/Club-Kasparov in second place. Last Friday Beersheva won 5.5-1.5 while Rishon won 6-1 (the only one to drop points was Viktor Korchnoi who was upset by young Alex Rabinovich), closing the gap to 1 point. Next Friday, Beersheva plays against Rishon/CK, in what will probably decide the championship. Rishon will bring all the top guns for this. Kasparov will play first board (against Avrukh), and Korchnoi, Gelfand and maybe Judith Polgar will also be there. I don't know yet whether Deep Junior will be in the lineup, and if so, who will be the opponent (maybe Golod). Amir
