Since I don't know anything about learning under the Fritz (or Hiarcs) GUI I'm
not going to speculate. The important thing isn't whether learning should be
used or not, but that the different elements of the test are consistant. Every
possible parameter should be _exactly_ the same, except when you're trying to
test the influence of a single one, ie. ponder on or off. So if Chessfun is
testing with a certain approach to the learning function, she only has to make
sure that she repeats it consistantly. Remember, it's not a test of strength, so
the optimal settings are not required. Otherwise, why bother with the cumbersome
and subjective Nunn positions?
