The important thing isn't whether learning should be used or not, but that the different elements of the test are consistant. Every possible parameter should be _exactly_ the same, except when you're trying to test the influence of a single one, ie. ponder on or off. So if Chessfun is testing with a certain approach to the learning function, she only has to make sure that she repeats it consistantly. Remember, it's not a test of strength, so the optimal settings are not required. Otherwise, why bother with the cumbersome and subjective Nunn positions? Sincerely, Mogens
